kids
Okay question? When did it become the in thing to have kids and not be married. Seriously.
I know that I am sooo not prepared or ready or at a stage in my life where I have the desire to have children, but if the situation were to come to pass I'd be able to take care of them in a home with an income. Now I know a few people (I won''t go into detail cause then they'll be put on blast, but if you know me well then you know who they are anyway lol) who are fresh out of college and I mean we just walked in may and now they are pregnant and soo thrilled.
Now yes children are a joy and a blessing and all that other good stuff, but when you don't have a job and to some it up you and poverty are pals kids should not be in the equation. Now I know money isn't always a factor cause my mom raised my brother with very little income for 10 years until she met and married my dad, but the thing is she had drive and she wasn't all happy and chipper about the situation but she dealt with it and did a good job.
My issue is that these people that I'm talking about might as well just say "I'm happy because I'm pregnant and this is a way I have a connection to this particular guy (child's father) for at least 18 years, and I don't really care that we aren't married I'm just satisfied with what I got, and even though we are going to struggle like hell it will be all good."
I'm so not feeling that.
I'm very forward and modern when it comes to some issues but with this area I'm as old fashioned as they come. I want a ring, and a big one at that :) you know emerald or asscher cut in a channel set band lol, and some stability, and a home, before I bring a child in the world and to clarify all these things would be done/achieved with a HUSBAND. I don't want to have to say this is my child's father and I don't want my child to wonder or have to explain why is mommy's last name different, or why mommy and daddy don't live in the same house.
I mean these are real issues and we can't say oh we're young so it's not a big deal. The people I'm talking about walked across the stage in May just like I did. They thought they had their shyt together and they didn't. They thought it would bring them and their significant others together and make him want to get on his knee and pop the question and that didn't happen except in one case and he did it after parental threats.
A child is not like a new Louis. It's not something that's in style and everyone will notice and then when you get tired you can put it away. That's a lifetime commitment. A child will not make a man that's sorta in love with you love you more or save a relationship that's on the brink of death. And in case you didn't know things won't be the same.
My homies and I are going to Vegas this summer and one of the people that was going is pregnant and she said to us yeah I'm still going. All of us looked at her like yeah ok sure. I mean do you think your child's father who really doesn't want a child is going to say sure I'll watch the baby while you go party in Vegas for a week, umm no.
This is really a life altering event. I'm not trying to knock kids at all either because I absolutely love them and plan on having some in the next ___ years :) but think before you make the decision. Live life a little, get some experience, be young and then make that choice and so that you have that opportunity to make a choice um protect yourself. Use pills, shots, cups, foams, condoms... whatever you have to use.
I keep saying it but it's so real this is not cute nor trendy nor should their be motives. Kids are a blessing but they should be blessed to be in the best situation that they can possibly be in.
