one year ago...
A year has gone by and in one year I have:
been in what I thought was going to be my "forever" relationship; graduated from undergrad; had the best graduation reception in the world; turned 22; moved to Syracuse; broke up with Mr. Forever; met some wonderful people; got in another car accident; sprained my foot; experienced a winter with 167 inches of snow; lived through several days that were -15 degrees and below; fostered and developed some new lifelong relationships; stood up for what I believe in and who I am; traveled to a new city on my own; broke all sorts of perceptions, stereotypes, and ignorant thoughts that certain people had about me and my people; proved a lot of people wrong; took the worlds hardest comp exam; graduated with a masters degree; had a FANTASTIC GPA and am now back in Maryland about to work at the Smithsonian.
If someone ever says nothing significant can happen in a year they obviously haven't lived. This year has been amazing. I have had so many ups and downs and highs and lows. But guess what I am still blessed and wonderfully blessed at that. In one year I have learned what it feels like to be deeply in love and then have your relationship crumble, I've learned how to live on my own, I've learned how to battle obstacles of all kinds, and I've learned to be confident in everything that I do and know that I am destined for great things.
This year has been an experience, Probably a year that I will truly never forget. In one year I can truly say that I have become a woman and have evolved mentally and socially. Although Syracuse is not my favorite place in the world, I will always remember it as a place that taught me a lot of things and a place that helped to groom me and mold me to move to the next level of success.
