Pomp & Circumstance

I have always had a thirst for learning. But I never in my wildest dreams imagined that in a one year time span I would receive both my bachelors and my masters degree. I find it amazing how learning can really change and enhance your life. When I was young I used to be ashamed of the fact that I was smart and would lie and tell my friends that I got B's and C's to try to fit in and be "cool" when in actuality I was the coolest one out of them all because I learned without effort because it was so fun and exciting to me. Back then I didn't understand or appreciate why I would have to leave out my class during reading to go to the next grade levels class or why I would miss afternoon classes once a week to participate in TAG (talented and gifted) classes. But now I see it was molding me and shaping me to get me to where I am today. I'm soo blessed that I have the opportunity and the support to be excelling in higher education and that I actually want to continue and get my PhD after a break (I know I'm crazy LOL).

This weekend is so monumental in my family. Not only am I receiving my masters but my two cousins are receiving there bachelors as well. My grandmothers 3 youngest grandchildren are graduating on the same weekend. All of my moms family are going to be at their graduation to celebrate and my immediate family will be up here with me. To some that would seem like oh boy that's conflict, but it's fabulous. Last year I got everyone to come share there love with me and now they have them this year. I'm happy that we are setting the precedent and paving the way for all the ones younger then us.

I know the blessings are about to begin for me and my two cousins. So Congrats to D'Najah who is getting her bachelors in PR (we'll have to open our own firm one day) and to Jay who is getting his bachelors in history and congrats to Me too (getting my masters in PR) we've come a long way!
