the twinkling of an eye
Life can change so suddenly. In the twinkling of an eye. One day you are with your family having fun and enjoying life the next second you are in a hospital, or tackling a new feat in life, or just in a bind. Things that happen suddenly and overnight make you put things into perspective. Who was I mean to? Who did I forget to tell I love them? Who's day would I make or who would make mine just by picking up the telephone?
I'm talking about these things because just on Friday a family member was at a gathering. We were all eating and fellowshipping and having fun and cracking jokes. Just two days later he was in a life threatening accident being airlifted to a shock trauma center with two broken arms, internal bleeding, concussions, bones protruding from the skin and so forth. All this resulted from an afternoon motorcycle ride with his brother and friend. Three days later he's in the hospital with his arms hoisted up and tubes in every opening possible, on dialysis and still in shock trauma. When I walked into the hospital I wasn't sure what I was going to see but to walk in a room and see someone laying in a bed helpless and at others mercy who you just saw a few days ago cracking jokes and having fun, makes you put things in perspective.
Last March I left a fight party me and my girls were in the car singing and dancing laughing and having fun. We were turning at a light and the next thing you know they were sawing me out of a car and I was in the helicopter being taking to the trauma center. Things happen so quickly in the twinking of an eye.
You don't want to allow life to pass you by because things can change so fast. You never know if there is going to be a next time you see a person or if you see them again what condition they will be in. You never know how what you do could be the last thing someone encounters or how meaningful and I love you can be.
I know the last time I saw my dad as himself I said I love you as I was walking out the door for school. I told him that I loved him and he said it back and that evening he went into shock and was in and out of a coma up until the time he died. I never knew that morning on the way to school that would be the last time I would see my dad. I though that he would get better like he did before. The day he died I was in so much shock when I found out because I never thought it could happen. But like I said things happen in the twinkling of an eye.
Say your I love you's. Stop holding in feelings. Let people know how you really feel. And live your life to the utmost always trying to fulfill your destiny.
Because things change in the twinkling of an eye
