In DC
I love DC. There are so many hidden treasures here. Today a friend of mine and I went to Eastern Market in DC. Eastern Market is the best place to go on a lazy day. There are so many vendors and artisans that sell everything from handcrafted jewelry to art to retro music. Being there today I realized that it is one of the most perfect date spots in DC. It's full of sidewalk cafe's, places to walk around, little boutiques and just a really good environment conducive for a good conversation on a lazy afternoon...
Another one of my favorite spots is Cafe Asia. Monday through Thursday they have a Sushi and Sake happy hour where you get 1/2 off sake and $1 a piece sushi. It's a great spot for friends to meet up and have drinks and food in an unconventional place.
Hotels Rouge and Topaz which are sister hotels have some really great bars. Topaz has a zen-like commune with nature relax and chill type vibe and Rouge has the sexy seductress I'm in heat type of feel to it (and one heck of a hotel). They both are spots where you go and have a good time with friends in a cozy setting.
So it's late at night and you want some good food, maybe you just left the club or maybe you and your sweetie just need to leave the house and come up for some air. If you don't want to go to 'The Diner' in Adams Morgan, Bistro Francais is the spot. Where else can you go at 3am on a Saturday and get a full course french meal.
My final favorite hidden trasure is absolutely amazing. I fell in love with Akwaaba Mansion in Brooklyn. The have a great bed and breakfast that also includes a restaurant that has Sunday brunch. I went for brunch and then stayed there on a little getaway and loved it. So I was thrilled when I heard they opened one in DC. The one in DC has literary theme in mind, each guest room is named after an author or genre So they have rooms such as the Zora Neale Hurston, the Langston Hughes, the Romance and the Science Fiction Suites. I looooove this place. It is so beautiful and so romantic *le sigh* It is like the perfect getaway to go alone for solace or to be with that special someone...
So as you can see DC has a lot to offer and this is just a mini piece of it
