What I'm reading
Most people that know me know that my minor in undergrad was English/literature and I love a GOOD book. When I say good I mean great content, syntax, etc. And not your typical my man slept with your woman who slept with cousin who's sleeping with my man book.
So with all that said I'm reading two books at the moment and both are great The first book is Slave by Mende Nazer. Which is a story based on Mende's life in which she was snatched from her tribal village in Africa, then survives enslavement in Sudan and London before making a courageous escape to freedom. My linesister was reading this and recommended this to me because it puts things into perspective especially since the young lady that wrote it is the same age as us. So it makes you think while I was getting ready for prom and dating she was a slave for someone. It's a good read thus far...
My second book is a classic. As someone who studied lit you have to read a classic as a refresher every now and then so I'm also reading Emma by Jane Austin. For those of you that don't know about Austin she wrote some classics Sense and Sensibility, Pride and Prejudice, Mansfield Park, Persuasion etc. Her novels typically revolve around people, not events or coincidences and she sets her novels in the upper middle class English country which was her own surroundings. So basically she wrote about what she knew. So Emma follows the mold. I haven't read this in a looong time but I watched the movie recently so I decided to read it again.
Pick up a book everyone it does your mind good
