here comes the...

So today Oprah had on this fab fab fabulous wedding episode where she gave this well deserving black couple a million dollar wedding. I'm usually not like a sappy wedding person but it was absolutely amazing. It also had some fabulous elements in it such as the couple washing their hands in orchid water as a symbol of purification, ringing bells in memory of their deceased loved ones and the best thing was the bride and groom each went and got on one knee in front of each other's mother and make vows to them and thanked them for parenting the person they loved (my mom was in the kitchen cooking and crying talking about find a man like that lol).

So looking at that seemingly perfect wedding on tv reminded me of the two weddings I'm in next year. This lady on tv was so calm and not stressing at least on the camera and it made me think what is it about a damn wedding that makes women turn into bridezilla.

I think I get 10 emails a week concerning these weddings that are happening in May and July. Do you know how far off that is lol. Every damn day it's a subject that's like "look at this dress," "look at this hairstyle." "do you like this dress in mocha or mocha latte" "hair in a high bun or a low bun." I swear it NEVER ENDS.

My ls who I love to death is driving me nuts lol. She's having like super wedding at this gorgeous mansion in NY. She sent out basically a bridesmaid contract lol... it has all these stipulations like you must get tattoos airbrushed(visible and non-visible), you can't cut your hair between now and the wedding, no natural looking hair (that one was for me), stay in this hotel, all pre wedding events you must wear xyz...blah blah blah . I even had a special note that since I was going to sing our sorority song at the reception to make sure I refrained from dairy and get some throat coat to make sure I'd be on point (I'm always on point with that song lol). This shyt is just crazy.

The other bride is working a full time job and two part time jobs to save money for her "perfect day." Meanwhile when the day is over they won't really have anywhere to stay because all the money is going towards the wedding.

hmmmmmm

Ladies we have to stop the insanity. It makes no sense to be sending out rules and regulations, email stalking people, requesting your bridesmaids get gastric bypass (well not really lol but might as well with all the other extreme stuff) just to participate in a one day ceremony. And chicas stop going into debt, not eating, pawning family heirlooms, and getting three side jobs just to put on a show. Where negroes are going come and eat your food, drink your liquor, dance, maybe leave an okay gift and talk shyt about you later.

Don't get me wrong. When I get married it's going be an occasion (because if someone is willing to put up with me forever that's worth having a party lol) but it's supposed to be a sacred ceremony and celebration for the bride and groom not cirque du soleil. And honestly the planning and time should be spent trying to foster all the days after the ceremony.

I don't know maybe I'm the anomaly. Because I don't see myself doing stuff like this to people that I cherish as friends. I'm not going make somebody I like spend $300 dollars and wear an ugly ass non flattering dress in a color that looks awful just to make me look better. And me and my husband won't be living in my mom's basement looking at pictures of our $40,000 dollar wedding either.

Ah well let me stop ranting. lol.
