this is why games just dont work...

I've made that statement several times this weekend. Whenever people play games with other people it always backfires in some shape or form. There have been instances where people have tried to make me jealous by over exerting themselves with other people or being very dramatic and somehow in the end they are the ones that are jealous because my fate would have it that someone I know comes arounds and draws my attention from the situation (or as my cousin states that vengence is always done by a higher power so I never have to do so).

So anyway this Saturday my bestfriend J threw a three part birthday party for three friends of ours at a restaurant, her apartment and then a lounge. At the restaurant there was a long table full of us and it happens that the situation was similar to mine last weekend that people in close circles share friends and one of the friends happened to be the ex of one of the birthday girls. So the guy that was the ex of one of the bday girls decides that he is going to bring his new buddy. So at dinner he's feeding her and blowing kisses to her and being real extra. We went to the the apartment after dinner and he's on her on the couch and blowing in her ear and again being extra. All while his ex is enjoying all the other company and having fun and seeing him but not paying attention. So when we finally get to the lounge birthday girls new friend showed up, she called him after we went to dinner and invited him to the lounge. At first she wasn't going to but after seeing that her ex felt comfortable enought to invite his friend she didn't mind doing the same. Then all of a sudden her ex's demeanor changed. He was staring so hard at what his ex was doing with her new friend that he stopped paying attention to who he came with. He was consumed with her beavior and activities and you could look at him and tell he as pissed.

So since him and I are cool I asked him to come dance with me. On the floor I told him how I saw what he was doing to the birthday girl and how now he was in the place where he wanted her to be. He agreed (I know when people are doing these things I can spot it a mile away) and said how he didn't even like the chick he brought with him that much and was doing it hopefully so that bday girl would get jealous and mad and tell him that and then he'd say I really care for you not her and they'd reunite and live happily ever riding off on the white horse.

But it didn't work like that. Not only did he end up leading on the person that he was with but he pushed his ex further away because she could see that since he was so comfortable with his supposed new girl that she shouldn't feel guilt for being happy with hers.

What he wanted to happen didn't at all because he had to hide behind a game. All because he had to distort reality and not say what he wanted to or acted out his feelings.

We have to be honest and upfront and express what we want and not create fiction. That's why games don't work. Someone is always going to lose and it's usually the person that started the game.
