bakers dozen

Time for this weeks bakers dozen..... same rules... twelve thoughts and one pic that describe my weekend

"¡Perdí diecinueve libras que comía las salchichas! salchichas!" (translates to I lost nineteen pounds eating sausages! sausages!) -- What the token latino lady (speaking in spanish) said trying to sell this new "high protein low-carb diet rotisserie machine" on a late night info-mercial. (I must have been tired because me and 2 of my friends found this to be hilarious)

Antoine: Grandma used to stay up late at night and feed the duppy's banana's that's the only way they would stay away from us
Niki: Baby what the hell is a duppy? was that yalls pet?
Antoine: Nah in Trinidad thats what we call ghosts and evil spirits
Me: Wait, your grandma was up feeding ghosts banana's?
Antoine: Yeah they never bothered us either
-- Part of the hilarious conversation we were having on West Indian culture at my friends house in Philly.

"Tomorrow I am going to get the most Vindictive Lawyer I can find. I am going to take your Money. Your Family. Your Dignity" -- My girl Bree Van De Kamp on Desperate Housewives telling her husband who was recovering from a heart attack (that occured in the middle of an affair) about how she was going to divorce him.

"It's sad isn't it. That bitch pushes a mercedes g class, wears prada and chanel and has no teeth in the front." -- Nina talking about one of her clients while we were at breakfast.

Me: "Do you know this fool shat on himself"
him: "Shat?!?"
Me: "Yeah you know the past tense of shit"
him: "Ehh you are such a f**king geek... be black say shitted like everyone else"
-- conversation between my friends linebrother and myself on the proper past tense term for shyt.

J: Remember when we went to Brooklyn to Georges grandma's house
me: How could I forget he was like I want to warn you my grandma has some weird pets
J: Who would have thought that you could keep live chickens in an apartment in Brooklyn
me: Not me. Then she had the nerve to serve chicken for dinner.
J: But that chicken was good though wasn't it
-- Me and J reminiscing on the first time we met our friends grandmother.

"I really thought she loved me though. Cause after she stabbed me she walked me to the infirmary on campus crying." -- my friend BC's "logical" reasoning on why in spite of his ex girlfriend stabbing him with a nail file, he thought she still loved him.

"It was so hard to focus. They were everywhere. Christen you think they'll come back every Sunday!! Send out a mass email invite them all."-- What my friend said about the oddly large amount of my fraternity bruhs that were at our church.

"Sitting at the end of the table is a brown skinned sistuh with a southern drawl and a lisp who became known to us as "DC". So between the lisp and the MD accent, I probably stared at her every time she spoke." -- What my P.I.C. Cymple wrote in her entry on the first time we met (lol even though it's improved the boys still say the lisp is sexy haha)

"Don't tell anyone that we were watching this okay. I think I'd get clowned for life if my boys knew" -- What my friend TJ said after thouroughly enjoying Desperate Housewives instead of The Wire on Sunday.

"Heyyy, get your fat ass from in front of the t.v." --What my 103 year old great-uncle said to the nurse that was blocking his view of the football game at the senior center

"What do you think she meant by hate?" --What my mentee's boyfriend called and asked me after she left him a message on the phone that said I hate you never call me again.

For my picture I chose a portrait by Kennith Humphrey called Amen. The reason I chose this is because I was at church A LOT this weekend (two different churches Saturday and mine on Sunday). So it shows a place that was significant throughout my weekend.
