if you...
...owned a restaurant, what kind of food would you serve?
I'd have a fusion restaurant and try to incorporate all the things I like to cook and eat in one place. I'd want it to be kind of casual and reminiscant of french sidewalk cafe's. A place where you can come and get Soul/Carribbean/Latino/Asian inspiration all in one place. Like soul sushi...which would be like regular sushi except wrapped in a collard green instead of Nori lol. Or like jerk chicken served with sushi rice and black beans....yall get the drift.
...owned a small store, what kind of merchandise would you sell? atmosphere?
one of kind clothes and jewelry from up and coming black and local designers. natural hair and skin products, stationary and trinkets. a collection if my favorite books and music, a few art pieces, perfumes, incense, spa products, aromatherapy items and massage items.
I'd want the atmosphere to be an oasis of sorts where people feel like they are at home. Because I'm so into relaxation I'd have a little candle lit sitting area with tea and water and so forth and and some good music playing that would help them feel so comfortable they would want to spend. Also an area for quick seated/chair massage (for a minimal cost). If I could get all that in one store I would spend in there.
...wrote a book, what genre would it be?
I'd love to write a book on black travel. something that could open up peoples minds and make them want to explore other countries and continents. it would also offer some historical references that relate to our people for example all the rich african american history in france.
...ran a school, what would you teach?
my class would be called creative communicating. I guess it would be a mixture of the fine arts classes and then some media literature etc. basically I'd guide students in communicating strong messages in creative artforms i.e. writing, sculpture, photography, visual media.
I'd also have to teach a class that focused on building and maintaining esteem in girls. I mentor a few girls and soooo many girls don't know their self worth and how wonderful they are so this class would focus on building on the positive and teaching them how to love and appreciate self.
...recorded an album, what kind of music would be on it?
it would be an ecclectic album. it would talk about life and real things that people that I know can relate to. not about bling and hoes and nigga this and that but life and happiness and success and failure and love and heartache. the type of music would reflect the message of the song. an angry song is going to have more of a saul williams electric soul vibe... an I am in love and grinning from ear to ear song is going to have a kindred stars/jill scott "I think it's better that I tell you now" vibe... while a happy loving life is going have that minnie ripperton loving you lalalalala feel.
what about you???
