If you would have went to an HBCU, which one would you have picked and why??(exclude both HU's and Spelman)
Boo for excluding the main ones you knew I would have said... um probably FAMU... I have a lot of different connections there and the different professors and students I've interacted with from there I've really enjoyed.
What are your likes and dislikes about the Metro area?
likes: family and part of my circle are here, it's home, I know the area well, has a lot of opportunities
dislikes: certain family here, a lot of old ties here, a lot of people here I wish I didn't know (some are reading this right now lol), often times not big enough for me, certain fields here aren't expansive as they could be elsewhere
If you were a male which frat would you have pledged and why?
This is really hard because I'm stuck between two. But I guess I'd probably be an Omega. Not for stereotypical reasons but because I grew up around a lot of them. My uncle and godfather are Omega men and a lot of other influential men in my life were as well. Also I'd need some sort of way to be connected to the greatest sorority so being an Omega works lol.
Would you ever marry a white man?
I won't say never... but I have a predilection for men of the chocolate persuasion
Have you ever caught yourself being attracted to a women?
Attracted in a sexual way no. Saying wow she's beautiful sure. I give credit where credit is due... but other then that nah

Who was your first crush/first love?
First crush was Mark, we were serious boyfriend and girlfriend in kindergarten... I'm talking playdates, me and him going to each others birthday parties and long hugs on fridays *smile*
First love was Al senior year of h.s. I was stuck on stupid for that boy lol
If you could relive one incident over in life what would it be?
hmm this is a tough one. Probably how I spent the last few months of my dad's life. he got sick fast and died within a few weeks. I probably wouldn't have been so afraid to be in the hospital room and to go visit. I also would have put some things that I was doing on the back burner. But I was 13 so that was an awkward time and no one thinks about death or illness at 13 when you are going through puberty and being blah.
If you had to repeat your whole process over again would you still be apart of DST?
The EXACT same process, even with the bad seed?!?! lol. Yeah I would.
Why did you choose to go to Syracuse for grad school?
It was out of the state of Maryland and the number two graduate program for public relations in the nation (UMCP was one). I didn't get into another school in the top five that I also liked and when they called to tell me I wasn't accepted I said it's okay I got into Newhouse/Syracuse. There was silence and then like two weeks later I got a letter of acceptance from them. Odd I tell you lol but that let me see that Newhouse had some clout and I accepted.
Can I borrow those black BCBC pumps you have? hehehe
I don't own any BCBC pumps... now BCBG I do have and nope sure can't borrow them but I still love you like a playsister and can direct you to your nearest Nordstrom (Dulles Town Center) so you can purchase them

Hmmm...Are you black conscious?
I guess that's all depending on how you define black consciousness. If it means pride in myself, history, culture, value systems etc then yes I am. If it means appreciation and knowledge of culture and the legacy of my people then yes I am as well. I read somewhere that black consciousness, is self-love and love and acceptance of other Black people, regardless of differences or status in life. If that's similar to your definition then yep I am.
Why is "being black" associated with negativity?
I guess that's all relative as well. I think alot of the negativity that is "asociated with being black" is perpetuated by people's interactions with certain people, media gatekeepers that go with the tactic "if it bleeds it leads" as far as what is being covered on tv, and in many cases individuals upbringing and circumstances. I know that I've been fortunate and blessed enough to be around tons of positive black images so when I see one bad thing I can think of many good things to trump that. It's really about people being needing to be educated.

What do you love most about being you?
I love everything about being me *smile*. I know I have flaws and a lot of growing to do but that's what I love about me the most, that I'm hungry and thirsty to learn more and eager to be surrounded bythose that can help me gain as much knowledge and wisdom as I can.
your BLACKNESS?
I love everything from the coils on top of my head to my complection, to my family's history, to culture, to the bonds that are easily made with other people (especially in academia) just because we have blackness in common.

If someone were to write a book about your life, what would the title be?
Emerging from Within
When you dream of ultimate success, is financial, physical or emotional?
To me I guess I'd have to say emotional success. Because if my emotions weren't in check as far as happiness and having inner peace and love and so forth I don't think the other things would matter
If you were to choose a Blogger of the Year (besides yourself), who would it be? (yes, you are directly on the spot. Choose carefully...lol)
hmmm... If I had to choose I guess it would be you since you filled me in on Desperate Housewives *smile* seriously I'd probaby choose Buttercup. Because her blog is really simple it talks about her everyday life and what's going on and she's open and honest about life and her feelings. It's no cutesy stuff just straight this is what happened in my world.

Why/how did you end up starting on Blogger?
I was reading a friends online journal on another site and so I started one over there but I didn't like the formatting or features. So I came over here and have been here since. Why did I start because I needed somewhere to rant about Syracuse/Onandaga County and all the drama that was happening to me at that time.
What's the best compliment you've ever gotten?
"Wow, you are absolutely beautiful. *sigh*" To some it's a simple rather common compliment but it wasn't neccesarily the words but the way it was said with sincerity and heartfelt emotion...
How's your mom?
Mom's doing good. Actually she's been off of work close to two weeks so she's been working my nerves quite lovely. She keeps asking when are my friends coming back to visit lol.
Where do you like to shop?
Oh boy... let's see where do I start lol.
Dept Stores- Nordstroms, Neiman Marcus and Bloomingdales are favorites and Henri Bendel when I can get to NY
Chain Stores- Banana Republic, Anthropologie, Ann Taylor, BCBG, Gap, H&M and Limited
Online or Boutiques- All about Jane, GirlShop, sistahs harlem nyc, fahari, coup de foudre, la redoute
*shrug* What IS two way symmetrical communication?? lol :)
you sure you want the answer... it's a public relations and general management principle. It uses a two-way flow of communication to achieve symmetry in mutually negotiated understanding between an organization and its constituents/ key publics. In normal (not trying to show off language lol) it's basically communication that is managed strategically, meets its objectives, and balances the needs of the organization and the needs of it's key publics. *smile*
