the SEVEN deadly sins

pulled from the diarist website

The "Seven Deadly Sins." Warnings for the virtuous, and a checklist for the wicked. Pride, Envy, Gluttony, Lust, Anger, Greed, and Sloth. Do an inventory of your current sin content. Of which sin are you the most guilty? Has that always been the case?

Pride- It's my first grade teachers fault. She said believe in yourself. So I did and still do. At times I feel invincible and I like to throw out the fact that I'm 23 and I have two degrees and blah blah blah me me me. But then something will pause me in my tracks and remind me that I guess I didn't do it all on my own. I had some serious guidance.

Envy- I am quite envious of people that don't have student loan debts. I mean sometimes I really wish I was in their shoes but I can't complain because I'm satisfied with the outcome that caused the debt.

Gluttony- I have an obsession with going out to really nice restaurants and overindulging. My friends in college we even made a song talking about how we were gluttons. In the past 3 months there may have been only 3 weekends where I didn't go out and indulge in some restaurant with rich food and an expensive bill. I realize I gotta stop.

Lust- It's this guy. That I talk to EVERYNIGHT faithfully. He sends me emails and texts throughout the day to say hi and that he was thinking of me and then he has the nerve to actually listen and remember stuff I say. And then to boot he is fine, I mean fine like wow makes me think somebody was looking out for me lol. But then the thing that makes me lust is the two degree's on his wall and the third that's coming soon. Intelligent men make me lust.

Anger- He really knows what buttons to push. This one individual. Every time I speak to him he makes me want to choke him because he's so arrogant and confident for unjustifiable reasons. Even my friends get angry when his name is mentioned. Gotta work on that one. Kill him with kindness I guess.

Greed- I walk in my room and what do I see shoes. When I walk in my room what's in my hand. A bag a shoes. I have a vertical rack (like the ones in dept stores) that hold 25 pair, that's full. I have two floor racks that hold twelve a piece, that's full then I have about 10 pair lined up on the wall. Did I mention that those are only winter shoes and that the summer ones are still in the attic in two of those boxes that hold holiday decorations.

Sloth- My bedroom. What can I say. Looks like my closet threw up all over the place. I'd hang up the clothes I really would. But I mean there is no closet space left and I'm already using two other closets in the house. It's not always like that though my slothfulness is an on and off thing. I always find the time to clean my room when someone comes over to chill (see the lust category)

Most Guilty of... gluttony. Gluttony goes beyond food and taps into the realm of entertainment and other legitimate goods, and even the company of others. Sometimes I want more then I know I need and gluttony is really when we demand more pleasure from something than it was made for. I've expected more from people, school, relationships and situations in life then I know they are capable of handling and that is gluttony as well. After reading an article I really knew this was "my sin" when it said that gluttons like to be pampered and don't like minor inconveniences of life. I think I've been guilty of this one for a while. Might stem from that spoiledness that I had/have in my family and how I always got waaay more of everything then I ever needed so I come to expect that.

Hmm Makes you think...

Which one of these things do you struggle with the most? You don't have to tell me but it's always good to be reflective and see where you stand.
